IMlogic has released a new management appliance designed to provide security and compliance for enterprise instant messaging over public networks such as AIM, Yahoo and MSN.
The IMlogic IM Manager SMARTGig 6000 (SG6000) is a 1U rack-mountable server with a single Intel Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM that comes preconfigured with the company's IM Manager software.
The SG6000 is designed to provide security with anti-virus scanning and file transfer controls that can apply restrictions based on file type and user location.
On the compliance side, the SG6000 offers IM logging and archiving, a regular expression-driven message filter, real-time conversation monitoring, and a rules engine that supports records retention and compliance policies.
The appliance also offers identity management and screen name registration, allowing administrators to provision IM user accounts; as well as IM traffic reporting and analysis tools.
The company says that the SG6000 arrives ready for integration with its recently announced Real-Time Threat Protection System (RTTPS), a predictive security product that uses a combination of network and content scoring to assess IM traffic and quarantine malicious IM traffic before clients can become infected.
According to a company spokesperson, the appliance starts at $10,000 with volume licensing available.
