Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 customers meet federal compliance and archiving requirements with IMlogic

IM Manager to help Live Communications Server 2005 customers increase the security of their IM communications whilecomplying with federal regulations and corporate governance requirements

Waltham, MA, October 26, 2004: Through its relationship with Microsoft, IMlogic today announced that IM Manager will provide instant messaging (IM) management and compliance for Microsoft® Office Live Communications Server 2005 deployments. IM Manager enables enterprises to increase the security, logging, auditing and management of their Live Communications Server 2005 deployments while meeting federal requirements for both internal and federated instant messaging use.

Live Communications Server 2005 will help enterprises embrace the business benefits of IM-based real-time collaboration and presence awareness by seamlessly connecting their communications network to heterogeneous public IM network communities comprised of users on different services such as AOL, MSN and Yahoo. It provides the instant messaging framework to allow users to communicate in real time and share presence awareness with colleagues, customers and partners in one-to-one communications or via federated networks that provide similar user experiences across the firewall.

"Security and regulatory compliance are important components of an enterprise instant messaging strategy built on Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005," said Microsoft Senior Product Manager, Real-Time Collaboration, Marc Sanders. "IMlogic’s IM Manager is noteworthy because of its tight integration with Live Communications Server and its use of Microsoft’s Real-Time Collaboration application programming interfaces."

The Microsoft/IMlogic technology relationship has proven success. Rand McNally is one of many Microsoft Live Communications Server customers taking advantage of IM Manager to safeguard their instant messages from cyber attacks and to comply with internal and external compliance measures.

"After monitoring our IM usage for a while, we could see the writing was on the wall and we clearly needed to implement an enterprise-side IM monitoring and security solution to ensure the safety of our network infrastructure," said Patrick O’Shaughnessy, director of information systems and operations at Rand McNally & Co. "We picked IMlogic because of its tight integration with Microsoft’s Live Communications Server. The implementation has been a very painless process and I’m much more confident we can block file transfers and manage other security risks with IMlogic in place."

IM Manager delivers key instant messaging management capabilities for Live Communications Server 2005 customers, including:

  • Increased security for controlled access to federated communities - From external user policy enforcement to file transfer blocking and integrated virus scanning options, IM Manager ensures companies communicating frequently via Live Communications Server 2005 can maintain security and federal compliance for internal and external IM communications across the firewall.
