LaserStation Prism enables up to four users to share the computing power of a single computer (i.e., the Cubix LaserStation C10). It creates a virtual PC station for each user to simultaneously and independently operate. It makes use of Windows’ pre-emptive multitasking feature to fully utilize unused processing power (see the illustration below).

Users can run the same or different applications simultaneously and independently to create and edit documents and share peripherals—for example: a CD-ROM drive and a printer connected to the host computer. Users can surf the Internet and access emails at the same time using one Internet Service Provider account and even share network access with a unique, customized desktop and network login.

Also, users can access information directly from Windows and Java applications running on the host computer without compressing or decompressing the displayed information, thereby providing a multi-user platform so that additional users can use the host computer.

The LaserStation Prism remote end is implemented by using  a P100 series PCI bus extension with four single head video cards along with up to four USB keyboards, mice and sound devices. In this application of the LaserStation technology, the only USB keyboard(s), mouse/mice and sound device(s) that may be used are those which Cubix has certified and provided.
