WORKSTATION REMOTE
  • Save space and prevent heat radiation from workstations at the desk
  • Remote control your dedicated workstation over twisted pair cablings
  • Compensate cable losses automatically
  • On Screen Display (OSD) for fine adjustment with keyboard

Description
With WS-Remote you can easily locate your workstations in a protected and air-conditioned area (system room/ cabinet). Save on costs for airconditioning
on trading floor. Depending on the cabling structure leading to the desk, you can use your existing cabling system. Smaller desk footprint is necessary without computers at your desk.

Highlights

  • Remote video-, audio- and data links over one twisted pair cable
  • Reduce heat and noise radiation at desk. Less desk space required
  • All- or semi automatic adjustment of Gain, EQ and Skew to compensate cable losses (Attenuation/Skew)
  • On Screen Menu for fine adjustment over keyboard at your desk
  • Up to 300m distance depending on bandwidth of cabling and video signal
  • Supports resolution of up to 1600x1200 @Hz

Features
WS-Remote III is available as standard and light version.

Transmission
Video-, audio-, Keyboard/Mouse- and serial data signals of a workstation are transmitted over one twisted pair cable (min. CAT5e UTP/STP) in real time.
Each additional transmission of a video signal requires an additional WS-Remote line.

Maximum Distance
WS-Remote III : up to 300m
WS-Remote III Light : up to 180m
Max. distance varies depending on:
- Bandwidth and skew of cable
- Resolution/Frequency of video
- Number of patch joints

Video Signal
Video Signal (transmitter side) coming from the workstation's graphic card, can be analogue (D-SUB HD15) or digital (DVI-D). Monitor data via I2C bus can
be transmitted to the workstation. On receiver’s side video signal is always analogue (D-SUB HD15). WS-Remote III supports VESA standard resolutions of up to 1600x1200 @Hz. WS-Remote III Light supports also some non VESA compatible formats.

Product lines
WS-Remote III is available in different product lines and module types:

Rack Module
EURO format card is mounted and powered by a Chassis available in different sizes and shapes.

  • Single Transmitter/Receiver cards
  • Single DVI Transmitter card. Input for Digital Video Interface (DVI-D/VGA). Output signal on receiver side VGA.
  • Dual Video Transmitter card (Video only). Card module for transmission of 2 video signals only.

PCI Bus Module

  • PCI(X) Dual Transmitter card Card module for transmission of PS2, RS232 and 2 video signals. PCIX card modules are mounted directly in PC's PCI or PCIX bus. Card uses only power from PCI bus.

Standalone

  • Single/Dual/Quad Receiver. Standalone receiver boxes with external power supply.

Cabling system

Use of a CAT5 or higher shielded or unshielded twisted pair cable for the signal transmission between transmitter and receiver ensures a high picture quality. Data (KB, MS, SER) and audio signals of the PC are transmitted together with video signal over one twisted pair cable. Additional video signals require a separate cable connection to the desk.

Compensation of losses

During transmission the quality of the signal decreases according to the length and characteristics of the cable. WS-Remote is able to compensate the most significant cable losses like skew delay and attenuation. Attenuation losses result from cable the impedance (capacitive, inductive, resistance). They manifest themselves on the monitor as blurred and weak picture. Depending of the production method four-paired wirings of twisted pair cables may vary in length. The three colours (RGB) of the video signal are separately transmitted using one pair of wiring per colour. This results in skew delays between the 3 colour signals. These losses appear as
misaligned colours on the screen.

Space saving modules

The WS-Remote product family is available in different mounting types:
- Standalones (single, dual, quad) or
- EURO format cards

for installation in a chassis. Our highlight is the WS-Remote PCI card; a dual transmitter card for direct installation in the PC, using a PCI or PCIX slot. Card uses only power of PCI BUS. PC’s security is not affected, since no software or driver is required.
