The XP4 double-wide server blade features single or dual Xeon processors, a 533 MHz front-side bus with hyperthreading support, up to 8 GB ECC DDR memory, one 10/100/1000 Ethernet controller, two 10/100 Ethernet controllers, and an on-board video controller. Each XP4 blade server features four hot plug SCA drives. The RAID5 controller inhabits the PCI expansion slot. Up to 3 double-wide blade carriers fit in a BladeStation rackmount enclosure.

The blade server, drive(s) and PCI adapter are vertically positioned next to each other, and are front-extractable as a set for easy serviceability. Each XP4 blade contains a Cubix Monitoring Controller (CMC) that is an independent computer with its own Ethernet NIC, IP stack and processor. Additionally a set of KVM connectors is available at the front of each server blade for direct KVM connection if desired.
